BIOGRAPHY

 

André Fouad was born on May 2, 1972 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  He attended Les Frères Sacré Coeur (1978-1985) and then the prestigious College Canado Haïtien (1985-1992).  He studied Journalism and Communication at "Ecole Superieure de Journalisme et de Communication" and also at the French Institute in Haiti.  André also holds a degree in pedagogy of the French Language.André worked as a host/editor for cultural section of TNH (Télévision Nationale d'Haiti) from 1998 to 2001.  He also worked at the cultural section for the Journal Le Nouvelliste and Recreation Magazine (stars Magazine) from 1992 to 2002.André Fouad is crazy about poetry and music.  He is the author of Four books:  "Gerbe d'Espérance" (1992), "En Quête de Lumière" (1992), Bri Lan Nwit" (2000), and his most recent book. "Étincèl Mo'm Yo" (2006).Most of his poems can be found in many anthologies such as the "Anthology of  Haitian Literature (1901-2001), a Century of Poetry", a book that received the prize "Ouessant 2005 au 6e salon du livre insulaire a Paris (France).

He also received an "Award of Recognition" from the mayor of the city of Miami, Alex Penelas in 2004.  In 2005, he was chosen as "Artist of the Season" by the Alliance Française of Miami.   Last January, André was awarded second place in the literary competition organized by the Journal Franco-Haitian Haiti Tribune (France).

Poet, speaker, presenter, André Fouad was a spokesperson and presenter for the musical groups, King Posse (1995-1999), Boukan Ginen, Boukmann Eksperyans (Café Des Arts, Pétion Ville), Sokute et la chorale évangélique Tek Non Vox de l'Eglise Nazaréen de Pétion Ville. André currently resides in Florida and writes for Boyo Magazine and L'Emergence with their respective base in France and United States.
