Biography​

 

Born in Haiti, MISTY JEAN started performing at the early age of three with the dance institute of LYNN W. ROUZIER who thought her dance. She started singing at seven. Since then, her passion for music became an obsession. At college «ANGLADE» where she graduated, she was named soloist of the choir and became an instant neighbor wood celebrity.

In 1998, she took part at «LA SOIREE MAGIQUE DE LA GUITARE» with well known pianist Raoul Denis Jr. and The Widmaier brothers. In 1999, she is chosen by the leading Haitian cellular phone company HAITEL to be their main model in a major promotional campaign. 

During the month of February 2001, she flew to the island of St. Marten where she represented Haiti among twenty two countries in the election of «MISS WEST INDIES». On February 21, she won the contest for best talent and personality and was crowned « MISS WEST INDIES ».

On May 27th of 2001, she sings at the Ritz Kinam at the night entitled «FEMME» of Yole Derose. You also find her in « CARIBBEAN ESCAPE » of Raoul Denis Jr. 

In February of 2002, she is crowned «Miss de la Francophonie» in Port-au-Prince.

In March 2003, she performed at « DIVA’S NIGHT » at Gusto’s in Miami Lakes. 

On April 13th 2003, she is «QUEEN OF CARNIVAL» at the «GREATER MIAMI MARDI GRAS».

Her first album «PLUS PRES DE TOI» was released in June of 2004. It included such hits as: «Patizan», «Ce Ou Mwen Vle», «Maladie D’amour».  On the fourth of July 2004, she performed live in Miami at the BAYFRONT PARK alongside LIL KIM. 

In august of 2004, she toured the French Antilles where she performed remarkably for many audiences. In December 2005, she performed at Bataclan in Paris.  In November 2004, she was awarded «FEMALE SINGER OF THE YEAR» by «TICKET D’OR» of Ticket Magazine. In February 2006, she performed at Bicentenial Park for the «Greater Miami Mardi Gras». 

Her second album entitled « KONPA A GOGO » released in May 2006 contains «Konpa A Gogo» Featuring Kaysha, «Car Wash», «Paradi Lanmou»,  «S’abandonner» Duet with Thierry Cham, «Hear the Tam Tam», «Camionette» among other hits.  In November 2006, she was awarded «FEMALE SINGER OF THE YEAR» by «TICKET D’OR». 

In December 2006, she released her first LIVE album together with her band. 

In January 2007, she is the host of the “Haitian Independence Festival” at the Bay Front Park in Downtown Miami.

Her third solo album released in march 2008 contains the following hits: «Kijan Lari A Ye», «Rev Mwen», «Tu pleures», «Vini’m Bo’w», «Li Pa Two Ta», «Vale Fan’m», «Hommage A Ti Manno», «Tam Tam» featuring Puerto Rican rapper Shino. 

In September 2008, she is awarded the trophy of « Best Female Artist » by Opamizik.

In February 2009, she performed on the float of Unitransfer at the Jacmel Carnival in Haiti. 

During that same period, she performed at «Concert Chocolat» at the prestigious and well known «Parc Historique de la Canne» in Port-Au-Prince. On June 25th, 2009, it’s the Grande Premiere of the movie « The Price to Pay » in which she plays the lead actress role in the name « Zoulmie ».

In December 2009, she released her second Live Album together with her band.

In 2010, she dedicated her time and talent to entertain and raise funds for different organizations involved in helping the victims of the tragic earthquake in Haiti. On March 12th, 2011 North Miami mayor Andre awarded Misty a Certificate of Recognition for her dedication and commitment to showcasing Haiti’s art, music and culture throughout the world. 

During that time, she also flew with her band to the island of Guadeloupe to represent Haiti at the show “De Mo 4 Not” produced by France Television / Guadeloupe 1iere. On April 23rd, 2011, she is awarded “Best Female Artist of the year” at the prestigious Compas On Broadway held at the Lincoln Center in New York. Misty’s philanthropy and activism in the community has garnered the attention of the Miami Dade County Office of the Mayor and Board of County Commissioners which honored her with a Certificate of Appreciation signed by Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez during the 2012 Haitian Flag Day celebration. During a concert for The Rhythm Foundation in “Big Night In Little Haiti”, Mayor Andre Pierre of the City Of North Miami in her honor, proclaimed the day Of October 19th, 2012 Misty Jean Day.

Her fourth studio album “Just Like That” will be released in 2013. It contains the following songs: «Just Like That», “Ou Fe’m Gaga”, «The Only One», «Nou Kwe» Duet with Tanya St Val, «Sa Red» Featuring Shabba, «Gradiasyon», «M’Pap Fon Pa», «Peyizan», «Lumane Cazimir/ Papa Gede», «A Gogo», «Sispan’n Koupe».

To date, she has released many videos that get air played regularly: “I Want You Back”, “Li Pa Two Ta”, “Kijan Lari a ye”, “Tam Tam” featuring SHINO, «Ce Ou Mwen Vle», «Maladie D’amour», «Paradi Lanmou».
