Nancy Roc changed her nationality to protest against the freedom of expression
Nancy Roc, the very popular Haitian journalist who , had an easygoing, detached manner that provided the calm delivery and knowledgeable air that earned her audience’s respect and trust from the mid-1990s, has become a canadian citizen, and seems to be very proud of it.
She reported on the major news events of the Haitian community in Quebec where she went into "Exile", from the world’s news hot spots as well as from behind the microphone of Radio Metropole wich gave her the lattitude to host the very popular show "Metropolis", and became one of the most respected journalists on Haitian radio. Nancy Roc, for certain people, has metamorphosed herself from going a fervent Lavalas supporter to the most radical opponent of the lavalas party. She has posted her picture whith her canadian citizenship certificate online with those word:
"Today, I asked a highly political act for me. While I've been here for 9 years, I finally decided to become a Canadian to protest against the freedom of expression that I was denied my microphone by Richard
Widmayer, Laurent Lamothe and the government.
While the values are violated in Haiti, Canada offers me a new opportunity to put my skills to his service, as stated by Judge Jensen, and it is a country that respects democracy and Other. I am now Canadian of Haitian origin".
It is weird that Nancy said that she "Finally became a canadian citizen to protest against freedom of expression........." when everybody knows that she used to be one of the most talkative journalists behind the microphone of Radio Metropole for more than ten years, which she now accused of anti democratic......"WAOW!"
