BIOGRAPHY

 

Robert Raymond, a native of Haiti, is a bassist, composer, producer, and educator. Drawn to the bass as a teenager, after having had various opportunities to try out his father’s guitars and accordions. Robert had various occasions to play and experiment with various musical styles such as: Haitian Konpa, Zouk, American Jazz, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban Jazz, and Haitian Jazz. He has been fortunate enough to have had the privilege to have studied with Jazz legends such as Reggie Workman and Milt Hinton. Robert performed and toured in bands all over the country and the world led by many famous musicians such as: Bomba Azur, Latino, Sakad, Mystik, Zin, Phantoms, Lakol, Freres Duroseau (Nemours Jean-Baptiste), Raymond Sicot, Kiskeya Orchestra, Beethova Obas, Eddy Francois, Assad Francoeur, Boulo Valcourt, Antoine Rossini Jean Baptiste (ti manno), Carlos Patato Valdes, Mozayik, Buyu Ambroise Quartet, Reginald Policard, King Kino, Alan Cave, Arly Lariviere, Ansy Derose, Emlyn Michel, Tifane, Princess Lover, Jean-Luc Guanel, Tanya Saint Val, Shoubou, Coubano (Skah Shah), Ralph Thamar, Jean-Philippe Marthely, Makarios Cesaire, Shedley Abraham, Markus Schrawtz, Willie Martinez, Ismael (Bongo) Bruno… 
Currently he is working with various musical groups in the New York area.
